Mandatory Requirements

Successful candidates should demonstrate that they have already achieved, or are in the process of achieving: a first or second class honours degree (or equivalent) from a UK university; passes at grade ‘C’ or above in GCSE English Language and mathematics (or standard equivalent) and normally at least a grade ‘B’ at A-Level in the relevant subject.
They must have a minimum 5 days recent and relevant experience in a secondary school (preferably within the Pennine Lancashire Partnership) with evidence of what has been learned from this experience.
Although not required at the time of application, all candidates must successfully pass their Professional Skills Tests in Mathematics and English, gain DBS clearance and complete a Health Check prior to being registered on the course in September.

Successful candidates should normally demonstrate that they already have:

C grade GCSEs in English Language, Mathematics or standard equivalent

Grade B at A Level in relevant subject or standard equivalent

An ability to relate to and engage with young people

A clear commitment to a career in teaching

Effective communication skills including use of written and spoken English

Strong subject knowledge, including an appropriately great breadth of knowledge as appropriate

An ability to explain concepts clearly

A range of personal characteristics including flexibility, independence and resilience

Excellent interpersonal skills with evidence of high levels of Emotional Literacy and Emotional Intelligence

Leadership potential including evidence of Vision

The ability to work well effectively as part of a group

Initiative

Knowledge of issues linked to secondary education

and that the applicant already has or is in the process of obtaining:

A first or second class honours degree (or equivalent) from a UK university, completed before entry. This should normally be in the relevant subject specialism but all subjects will be considered.

A Pass in the Professional Skills Tests in Mathematics and English

A successful DBS check

A successful Health Check
